KUALA LUMPUR: PKR has denied an allegation that its president, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, deliberately skipped a meeting between Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and Pakatan Harapan (PH) component party leaders, recently.
PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil said that the claim – made by Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) founding member Datuk Seri Khairuddin Abu Hassan – is baseless and made maliciously.
Fahmi said that the meeting referred to by Khairuddin was a gathering among PH leaders involved in the formation of Cabinet on May 2018.
“The meeting was to get views on government affairs and touched on matters concerning Cabinet portfolios.
“This means that PKR was represented by Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail,” said Fahmi.
It is understood that Khairuddin claims that the gathering took place after Cabinet’s weekly meeting on Wednesday (Aug 21).
His accusations are now making the rounds on social media.
It was also reported that Khairuddin issued a statement accusing Anwar of being egotistical and refusing to attend the meeting.
