Ismail Sabri: DAP should not interfere in investigation into LTTE link involving assemblymen

Ismail added that he hoped the police would not feel any political pressure from DAP.

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP should not interfere with the police investigation into the alleged links between its leaders and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), says opposition chief Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said this when speaking at the Parliament lobby on Friday (Oct 11) in response to a statement by DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, who had said that the police have given their assurance that no more DAP leaders will be arrested.

Ismail added that he hoped the police would not feel any political pressure from DAP.

“The investigation and the arrests must continue even if it involves high-ranking government officials. The Opposition also expresses regret over the remarks made that the LTTE is similar to those of the Palestinian people as they fight to free Palestinian land,” he said.

It was reported that seven men, including two assemblymen, have been detained for alleged links to the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE).
