KUCHING: Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) blood bank is appealing to eligible and new donors to give blood this weekend.
A press release yesterday pointed out that the number of blood donors would likely drop because of the Lunar New Year celebration.
To ensure the blood bank does not face a shortage of supply during the holiday break, it will open tomorrow (Feb 10) from 8.30am to 2.30pm.
Parking bays are available to donors at the blood bank.
The SGH mobile unit will also be at three locations this weekend.
Tomorrow, the mobile unit will be at Boulevard Shopping Mall from 10am to 3pm, while on Sunday mobile units will be stationed at the Baha’i Centre 1 at Jalan Nanas between 10am and 2pm, as well as at Kuching Sentral from 10am to 3pm.
Blood donors are reminded to bring along their record booklet, while first-time donors just need to present their MyKad.
Donors are advised to get at least five hours of sleep the night before donating and not to come on an empty stomach.
The SGH blood bank also welcomes regular blood drives organised by government agencies or the private sector.
